Title: Coyote on Windy Hill
We were out hiking the range down on the Peninsula over the weekend. Saw a Pair of Kites just hanging out all day, hunting and roosting all around us, a Pair of Northern Harriers hunting and flying in courtship, and a Red Tail that wouldn't leave his tree. The migration is on right now, we got to get up to Hawk Hill. Not to windy that day on Windy Hill.

It's been a while since I've been there, but Hawk Ridge above Duluth is quite a show. The total for November so far is over 47,000 hawks and eagles:

The birds come out of Canada, get funneled down the Lake Superior shore, riding the updrafts created by the high ridges above the shore. Quite a show indeed. Tough to beat a raptor.
Correction. 47,00o is Fall to date, not month.
