Sunday is Funday

I asked Adam5-100 if he'd seen my blog, having mentioned him a few times. He said, "Yeah, it's just about what you had for dinner." And then he laughed and laughed. I don't think I'm a foodie, but I'm usually wrong. HH is a foodie.

But there is some good food out there and it gets me excited. Another Reader/Rocker claimed the blog is my journal. I still don't know what it is, wait, yes I do, its a Web Log.

Stardate: 2 Zero Zero 8. Zero 8. One 7
A distant location in the shadow of the Man. The inhabitants are the exact people who are told to stay in place when there is an unknown explosion with possible injuries. The wind seemed to be blowing the right way so we stopped at the Carquinez Strait Regional Shoreline. A huge wetland restoration and park right on the strait. What we found there, well, see for yourself.

As we drove in GG spotted a flock of about 25 turkey vultures sitting around these baseball fields fences, for no apparent reason. We got pretty close, then they all flew away, 'cept one, and started circling over the refinery.



We then proceeded to the marsh trails, a series of levees with cool bridges, Black Necked Stilts, Killdeer, and benches along the bay.

In front of you lay the hull remains of the schooner Forester. Launched in 1900, 250 ft x 32 ft, trans-pacific, yadda yadda yadda, oh, here's the good part, in 1935 the one and only captain decided to beach the Forester on the mudflats of Martinez and live out his days on it. In 1975 it burned to the waterline.

We made one more stop on our way out of the recreation area. Real bocci courts, with scary Martinez people. They brought cases of water, beer, food, and a boom box that only played FreedomRock. As soon as we approached they were all, like, "You can play with those", and then we were all, like, "Cool, thanks"



Then I had salmon for dinner.
